Introduction:
Please allow me to
introduce you to our non-profit 501(c) 3 charitable organization, "Candy's
Coats for Kids,". The organization was founded by Doreen Willis and
incorporated in May of 2005.
Mission Statement:
The mission of Candy’s Coats For Kids, Inc. is to reach
out to families and individuals in need by providing them with
essential necessities to help keep them warm, fed, educated and
most importantly, to help make them feel like worthy human
beings. This work will be accomplished by receiving donations
from the general public, fundraising activities, and possible
foundation/philanthropic support.
After much success in providing this
service to children, our long-range strategic plan is to expand
our outreach to include teenagers and senior citizens with these
same needs.
Goals:
The following goals
and objectives have been developed to help guide our
organization in the effort to expand our services:
1. Provide fundraisers in order to continue to purchase
clothing, food, school supplies, and toys.
2.
Identify teen outreach programs to include them in our
outreach efforts.
3.
Collaborate with similar non-profit organizations,
student organizations, and businesses in providing the above
services to under-severed communities
4.
Develop mentoring programs for at risk children and young
adults

How Recipients Are Selected:
Candy's Coats for
Kids rely on referrals from other non-profit organizations, as well as, local
school social workers throughout the Chicagoland area to help disseminate items.

Personal Statement:
There are thousands
of children who walk to school during winter months without proper attire to
keep them warm. I've discovered from my previous volunteer work with other
"Coats for Kids" drives, that some children have to borrow winter items from
their school in order to go outside for recess but the items must be returned.
I have committed to do what I can
to decrease the number of children who find themselves in this predicament.
No human being should ever be without these essentials.
